Discotheque VOLTA では、メキシコとの国境の街テキサス州マカーレン市において、規格化された工業部材を細分化し再統合することによって、規格寸法と身体寸法の間にある最小公倍数を見つけ出すことを試みた。
NAFTA（北米自由貿易協定）によって発展したこの工業都市は、プリファブリケートされた工業部材で覆われた巨大な工場や倉庫によって街並みがつくられている。
この街並みをつくり出すパレット（フォークリフトなどにより荷物を運搬するための荷役台）やセロシア（工場などの排気口として使われる格子状のブロック）などの工業部材を細かな単位に解体し、人の手によって再構築することでヒューマンスケールな建築空間をつくり出した。
これら工業規格によってマッピングされたテクスチャを身体寸法によってつなぎ合わせた空間は、街に住む人々が共有するコレクティブなアイデンティティを喚起する装置となる。
Discotheque VOLTA was constructed in Mcallen Texas and our aim was to find a least common multiple scale between industrialized modular scale and human body scale by defragmenting and recomposing mass manufactured products.
The cityscape of Mcallen (developed as part of NAFTA tax free industrial area) is decorated by a series of pre-fabricated industrial products which cover gigantic factories and storages.
We utilized fragments of industrial materials (such as pallet, celocia block) and re-assembled by hands to compose human scale spaces.
This process of decomposition dismantles meanings of material itself and creates a new context among them, and expresses a collective identity of the city to the society.
