アメリカテキサス州とメキシコの国境の街、レイノサ市で住宅を計画した。レイノサは、メキシコ湾側の主要な交通、流通の拠点となっており、人・物・文化が常に流動的に移動している。
一方で街の流動化がもたらす不安定な情勢により、街の治安は悪化の一途をたどっている。
このような暴力的な諸条件より、住宅を外に対して開くのではなく、内部に展開することが必須の条件となった。エクステリアタイルによって仕上げられた街路空間を住宅内部に引き込み、トップライトからの自然光に満ちたエントランスの吹抜けを介して立体的に展開することで、住宅の中に外部から連続する小さな都市空間をつくり出した。
建築の中に都市をつくるという字と図の反転により生まれた私化されたちいさな都市は、住み手とより濃密な関係を築き上げる。
CasaVA was constructed in Raynosa Mexico, cross boarder city between Texas US.Raynosa is a hub of traffics and transportations along the Mexican Golf and those people, products, and culture are intermixed fluidly.On the other side, this fluidity causes un-stabilized its social condition and the public security of the region has been becoming worse.
Such violent conditions force the house not to open to the urban context, but to unfold itself internally.
By bringing passage like space covered with exterior pavement into the interior space and by unfolding it 3 dimensionally through the double height space, a mini urban condition was inserted into the house.
This reversed relationship between urban fabric and singe residence provides personalized small city scape in the living space and celebrates a way of living in the city.
